Transparent consciousness frees lacquer
The activities of all things that never stop for a moment.
How can we preserve the "momentary" time that disappears in the next moment?
Or, how can we seal the far-reaching time up to and since then within a ``moment''? It can be said that all artists of all ages have taken on this challenge.
The drawing lines of “Setsuna” run lightly.
What would happen if we combined this with lacquer, a traditional material that symbolizes longevity?
"The important things are simple," she says.
Therefore, rather than drawing something specific, my drawings consist of running the colors according to my heart. By chipping away and chipping away again, I put the feeling of ``living now'' into my brush.
The form of the drawing is inspired by, for example, natural scenery or plants in the garden.
The material is cut out in the shape of a drawing, then carefully coated with lacquer, polished, coated again, and polished. The completed work looks as if it is made entirely of lacquer.
The lacquer is layered in layers, creating a form that looks like a momentary brushstroke.
Although it cannot be seen directly, time is certainly captured.
What is also preserved there is the long history of lacquer crafts.
The present moment is the result of the accumulation of time from the past, and is the beginning of the future. The past and the future are included in the present.
The starting point for changing the meaning of the past and moving the future is ``now.'' That's why I want to create works that capture the current state of things.Mine TanigawaWhile clearing your mind, you can freely use lacquer and free up your time.
