Beni-kaseji is a style that draws on Asahi ware's characteristic clay texture and the kiln transformations produced by anagama firing, named for its resemblance to a deer's back. This flower vase, shaped like a tokuri (sake flask) to bring out that kiln-transformed clay texture, is drawn up on the wheel in an elegant curve, with the mouth finished tight and delicate, enhancing the charm of the delicate flowers within.
