A new form discovered where ceramics and architecture converge.
A work born where the "boundary" between architecture and ceramics — once thought worlds apart — dissolves. It combines architectural design methods using cutting-edge technology such as 3D CAD and programming with the traditional techniques of Ohi ware.
Nara, the maker, drew inspiration from the grand snowscapes of Kanazawa, where he spent his childhood. The geometric pattern, with its strange wavering quality somewhere between flat and three-dimensional, line and plane, glows with the glaze. The piece's outer form follows the global golden ratio, while the ratio of the inner hollow follows the silver ratio (Yamato ratio) passed down since ancient Japan — embodying both the fusion and the contrast of West and Japan.
