A fleeting drawing made to hold a momentary impression or memory is gently fixed in place using lacquer, a material that carries within it a vast span of time. I hope to convey the preciousness of the present moment, clothed in all the time that has been spun together to reach it.

The motif is a climbing vine.
I think of a vine as something like a drawing sketched in space. I overlay that curve — shaped by both internal and external forces — with a drawing in which consciousness and the unconscious intermingle.
