Kohiki Black Glaze Vase

A vessel meant to convey the traces of ash left on the white slip through firing in a climbing kiln, and the boundary between outside and inside heightened by the contrast of white and black.
Though made as a flower vessel, it is not intended solely for flowers — rather, it expands the concept of the tea bowl and leaves what is placed inside to the user. A vessel on the theme of "containing the heart."
