A style symbolic of him as the 16th-generation Housai.
The beautiful blue geppaku glaze, made with straw ash, creates a variety of expressions within a single bowl, contrasting with a primitive, powerful landscape of scorched crimson (hiiro) from strong exposure to flame. A poured white slip, applied in the same manner as the geppaku glaze, links the two, embodying the 16th-generation Housai's contemporary sense of "kirei-sabi". This piece was finished with an especially strong, sharp, powerful rise.
