Behold the Moon #1

This piece was inspired by the Zen teaching "do not mistake the finger pointing at the moon for the moon itself", expressing that lesson: the importance of looking beyond form and words to the essence beyond. Looking at the moon is not about gazing at something distant, but about discovering the truth within oneself. The moon, I feel, has also been a source of inspiration within Zen thought. Even as I hold actual lunar material in hand, I see the moon not merely as a celestial body, but as a mysterious presence guiding toward truth. *Lunar regolith simulant grains are used inside the body of the piece.
