Tsukuyomi #1, Star Cosmos Oval Stand

Tsukuyomi (the Japanese god of the moon) has been a recurring theme in my work, but this time, having handled real lunar material, Tsukuyomi and the astronaut became overlapping images for me. Imagining that today's divine presence governing the moon might also be the astronaut — a singular being who overcomes rigorous training to depart from the earth — I pictured a superhuman presence floating above a lunar crater. Prayer and exploration. The life of Tsukuyomi, symbolizing an age where myth and reality overlap. May this become a modern talisman carrying a prayer to the moon god. *Lunar regolith simulant is used for the crater and Tsukuyomi's body.
