Head bowed, a long tongue-like stamen dangling loosely, moving as if strolling at ease — is this creature a monster, or a plant…?

This work is inspired by the beautiful, fantastical botanical illustrations of biologist Ernst Haeckel. It resembles a psychedelic creature from another world, as if straight out of a science fiction film. "Kaiju" (monsters) are iconic toy imagery, reflecting Miyashita's style of deconstructing and reassembling ready-made toys into his works.

By giving "movement" to a plant that should not move, the boundary between the still and the living is blurred.
