Ogura Shino Tea Bowl

Fired slowly over five days in an anagama kiln and left to cool for a week before being drawn from the kiln. Applying a highly transparent Shino glaze over an ohaguro (iron-mordant) underglaze produces a glossy, red-bean color. The work is rich with further points of interest as well, from its supple, yuzu-peel-like texture to the deep, evocative tone of its momokusa clay.
