DESCRIPTION

The 'Date Masamune Model' of the Hoyoroi Sake Cup, a vessel meant to be worn.
Inspired by Date Masamune, this ultimate sake cup took roughly five years from concept to completion.

Date Masamune, the "One-Eyed Dragon," was a kabukimono who favored flamboyant attire and ornamentation, epitomized by his crescent-moon helmet, and
He was a transformer of his era. There is a death poem said to have been composed by Masamune just before he died.

“Holding aloft the moon of an unclouded heart, I go forth lighting the darkness of this fleeting world.”
"Like making one's way through pitch darkness relying only on moonlight, amid the uncertain tides of the Sengoku era,
It was a life spent simply walking, relying only on the path I believed in.”

Koga sees the present as an age of gekokujo (the low overthrowing the high). Even in an uncertain era, he believes that with the will and resolve to open up the times, one can rise to prominence regardless of origin. Taking as its motif the intimidating hoate (cheek armor) worn by warlord Date Masamune, {Hoyoroi Sakazuki Gengetsu-gata} expresses the human way of life and spirit. It carries encouragement for today's high-minded warriors.
