A guinomi (sake cup). Conical spikes cover the surface without a gap—a piece that, though small, commands real presence. Pour in a clear liquid, and the iridescent interior gleams even more brilliantly. Hand-formed using the tebineri technique, giving it a one-of-a-kind shape.

The SPIKY series deliberately approaches today's flattened way of seeing things with a sense of the foreign. It is distinguished by a form that seems to refuse being picked up at all.
The protrusions spreading across the entire vessel make visible and tangible a force inherently latent within an object. The result is a powerful expression, as if the hidden strength within had burst out onto the surface.
Ceramics, a traditional craft nurtured over a long history. Koga intends, by introducing a stimulus in form, to give the person holding it a fresh sense of surprise.
