The effects of meditation, such as mindfulness, are currently attracting attention. In today's world, where we are constantly bombarded with information, people are craving peace of mind.
Tea was brought from China by Zen monks, and has a deep connection with Zen.
Although the chemical colors give a sense of discomfort to this work, which is presented as a teacup, they serve to transport you into a psychedelic world. Furthermore, the word ``gradation'' seems to suggest that this mysterious world lies between the conscious and unconscious.
The tea ceremony involves a series of actions: lifting the teacup directly with your hands, rotating it, and then drinking.
Through this movement, the illustration drawn on the inside of the bowl unfolds like an animation. The tea bowls are shaped using a technique called ``tebineri,'' which involves using only the hands without the use of a potter's wheel, leaving traces of handiwork. What is depicted is also the movement of the character's hands.
This work, which depicts the erotic movement of touching in a psychedelic world, can be said to be a visual representation of a meditative act that attempts to drive away distracting thoughts by ``concentrating on what is right in front of you,'' similar to mindfulness.
