Throughout history, glass works have been positioned between craft and art.
As I create my work, I am constantly thinking about how I can express new value using glass.
I believe that crafts require functionality, and art is something that is invisible and can express spirit and concepts without needing functionality.
When we think about crafts and art with a focus on vessels, we think of vessels as something that "holds" something.
As a craft, it is important that vessels have functionality that suits their purpose, and are used to hold visible objects such as water and objects.
On the other hand, when we think of vessels in art, we think of vessels that can hold not only water and objects, but also invisible things such as time, space, and concepts.
Glass in particular is a material that is fluid at high temperatures during production, but retains its shape by cooling it, making it easy to express vessels as art.
This work expresses the balance between two different forces, such as an upward force and a downward force, an inward constricting force and an outward overflowing force.
