Because glass is transparent, one can see the space inside even without any holes, making it a material that heightens one's sense of that interior space. When a hollow, hole-riddled vessel form was made from this glass, it raised the question: "What is it that separates space?" This expresses that ambiguous boundary between inside and outside.
