This technique is fired in an anagama kiln for a day and a half, then the bright red melted area is pulled out with iron scissors and rapidly cooled to give it a jet black color. The texture of the black color changes in various ways due to the changes in the kiln due to the ash covering unique to Anagama. There are also many other attractions, such as the delicious Mogusao soil.
