DESCRIPTION
A style emblematic of his role as the 16th-generation Housai of Asahi-yaki.
The beautiful blue geppaku glaze, made with straw ash, creates a variety of expressions within a single bowl, contrasting with a primitive, powerful landscape of scorched crimson (hiiro) from strong exposure to flame. A poured white slip, applied in the same manner as the geppaku glaze, links the two, embodying the 16th-generation Housai's contemporary sense of "kirei-sabi". This piece is distinguished by pools of glaze that, having reached high heat, look as though they might drip at any moment.
