When Koga visited New York, he saw a ``beckoning cat'' at a store that had no connection to Japan. The opportunity to create this series was inspired by the experience of being surprised by its outstanding presence in a different culture.
Koga's style is based on the classic forms of Japanese art. For example, his representative work ``Cheek Armor Sake'' uses the ``changeable helmets'' of Sengoku period warlords as a motif, but he reworks them into modern forms and adds Koga's perspective on modern society as a ``concept.'' The same is true for this work. Although it is based on the typical form of a ``beckoning cat'', it is equipped with ``studs'', which Koga used as symbols of ``power'' and ``rebellious spirit,'' to visualize ``divine power'' and ``ambitiousness.'' In this way, while inheriting the role that the ``beckoning cat'' has played, the work has been updated to become a new ``beckoning cat'' for modern times by incorporating Koga's perspective on modern society and his thoughts on it.
