Faux-Rock Tea Bowl
DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
For about five years, while living as a ceramic artist, I worked at a modeling studio,
mainly creating artificial rocks for zoos and theme parks.
On site, the senior workers would carve mortar with a trowel, finishing a rock's surface in just minutes, and
I too carved by watching and imitating, but I was clearly not very good at it.
That feeling remains, even now, the root of an irresistible urge to recreate the texture of rock.
The gold slime was given a deliberately contrasting texture to create a sense of unease against the rock surface.
By skillfully combining contrasting elements, the best qualities of each stand out.
Each piece is delivered in its own paulownia box.
As a dedicated box is ordered and made, please allow about 3 weeks from purchase until shipping.
We can also ship the piece alone first if you prefer — please contact us if interested.
